A typical Christmas fruit

November 25, 2007

Hi from Alessandria!

Recipes aren’t ready yet but look at this photo, please

Do you know this fruit? Do you eat it?

It is called POMEGRANATE , in Italian “melograno”.

It is a winter fruit generally eaten but also used in many Italian recipes during Christmas time because it is a symbol of abundance and brings good luck.

Its taste depends on the variety and state of ripeness. It can be very sweet or very sour or tangy.
